Six Weeks until Evan’s Ride 2017
Its hard to believe it’s only 6 weeks until Evan Sheldrake will be, once again, leading the way for Evan’s Ride for Autism.
Evan’s Ride is Autism Community’s annual fundraising event to support our programs like Facing Your Fears and My Life as an EPIC WIN. Evan’s Ride is an 11 or 22 km cycle through the scenic roads of West Lincoln followed by lunch and family-fun activities. The fun begins at 9 am on Saturday, June 10th at Sheldrick Transport in Smithville (2942 Thompson Road). You can download the event flyer here.
Having been an educator for 31 years, I have witnessed the growth of autism, not only in the classroom but in our communities as well. Evan’s Ride brings people together to ride for a cause that effects so many lives. - Evan's Ride Rider since 2009
Evan’s Ride for Autism began in 2009 when Len Sheldrake experienced the joy of watching his 12 year-old son, Evan, master riding a bicycle – something doctors had told him Evan would never do. To celebrate the support, determination and love behind this accomplishment, Len envisioned Evan’s Ride to raise funds for autism awareness and support.
With the support of the community, Evan’s Ride has become something of an annual institution in his hometown of Smithville. Most importantly, Evan’s Ride has raised over $100,000 to support individuals and families touched by Autism Spectrum Disorders in Niagara.
